Most if not all are familar with the sports curses and jinx's that exist. The Sports Illustrated cover jinx, if you are hoping for a championship or for you favorite player to have a career year then you will pray to the sports gods that SI stays the hell away from them. Most that have appeared on the cover have gone down in flames. Perhaps the most popular curse with the longest track record is the dreaded Madden curse.
Since the inception of the game everyone that has been the cover athlete for EA's best selling franchise, has been threatened by career altering if not ending injuries. Either way the players are never the same. The only athlete not to suffer a horrific injury was Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions. Instead he unexplicably retired from the sport.
Now a new curse has emerged. ESPN's "MMA Live" could have gamblers running to the sports book to break the bank. Kenny Florian, Rashad Evans, Miguel Torres, Stephen Bonnar and Frank Mir all appeared on the internet show just prior to losing their respective bouts. Randy Couture recently appeared and will face off vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102 later this month. If Couture loses, keep a close eye on who appears on "MMA Live" and bet against its guests.
Thanks to MMA Scraps for pointing this out.
