EA has made some of the best sports game of this generation. Screw 2ksports, but can they make a marketable game by licsencing indiviual fighters?

Really what I am asking is if EA makes a quality game on par or better than Undisputed, will you play the game or do you want the UFC name brand attached to play as your favorite UFC fighters?

So is EA Sports MMA essentially a Strikeforce game?

How does that EA kool-aid taste? Last time I checked Madden has pretty much been a copy of NFL 2K5 since EA bought the NFL rights. And if they apllied the fight night controls to an MMA game, I would f'n PUKE!

i dont care about the ufc tag on the game. but thats me. will John Q public care. YES. most people still call MMA, ultimate fighting, so i think EA is at a disadvantage. However with EAs fight engine superior than all others (see fight night) and ability to make all sports games better than everyone else (except baseball, SCEA's the show is far better than EAs.) EA stands a chance a bettering the MMA game. they could use the idea of fight night and then add ground fighting etc. And fuck WAMMA no one gives a shit about them or that silly belt.

Its not that I want to fight as Fedor or Gilbert Melendez, but I want to fight agaisnt them. I like Rick's idea of running down the WAMMA top 10's and signing fighters on for the game. I want real fighters. EA could even sign on the Gracies and Shamrocks, Dan Severn, and others for a Legends of MMA mode.

Say UFC is a 10, if EA made a game that was a 8 or 9 I'd buy simply for their online play where they track and show a players disconnect rate, so I don't have to waste my time and effort.

Well remember that Undisputed was THQ's second go round at MMA gaming.
With how ridiculously it sold out of the gate, I see the EA Sports crew dumping shit loads of cash into the game and following at least the base of Undisputed. If they were smart, they'd take WAMMA (yes its a dumb name) 10 ten lists from each weight class and License those names not under the UFC license. Can you imagine playing as JZ or Aioki, hell even Faber or Torres. What EA can do that THQ didn't do (I'm not complaining) is add little things to really distinguish fighters, like Diaz having a go-go in his arsenal, or Shields being a complete push over standing up but almost unreversable on the ground with options of 3 or 4 different upper body submissions . Hopefully we will see a wider range of subs in general.

I like EA's chances, but Derek is right, how do you improve that THQ control scheme?

What!? 2KSports is consistantly EA's bitch. But you make a valid point on the control scheme that THQ has laid out. I would like real fighters to be in the game, but its not a deal breaker. If the game is good, I'll buy.

I dont need the UFC name at all. But I wouldnt mind some real fighters, I also wouldnt mind some knock off UFC guys. 2K sports is the best. EA is a bunch of fuck heads and will screw up MMA. Have you played the new fight night, that thing is just stupid. Now imagine that in all aspects of an MMA fight. They should just do a Wii version and make the controls a bunch of shaking since it is impossible to improve on the THQ control scheme. So whatever they do is gonna be crap. I think THQ is gonna be the best at MMA games for as long as they make them.

With EA's track record I don't care what names are in the game, although, putting everyone not in the UFC game would be nice. Besides don't most, I do, create their own fighters to fight with anyway?
